The company record
Lookup uses the FMCSA Company Census File on U.S. DOT Open Data. It can include a legal name, DBA, USDOT number, docket numbers, registered address, contact details, entity roles, reported fleet size, and declared cargo. The dataset also includes brokers and other registered entities; a search result does not by itself identify a truck-operating carrier.
“Active” describes the registration field in that dataset. It is not our approval of a carrier and does not establish current for-hire operating authority, insurance, available capacity, or identity.
Three dates can mean different things
- Retrieved: when HaulFacts received a response from the public source.
- Directory snapshot: when the selected records were collected for this directory.
- MCS-150 date: a date in the carrier's filing record, where reported. It does not establish when every individual field last changed.
FMCSA describes the Census dataset as a daily snapshot, with about a 24-hour processing delay. A response received today can contain older carrier-provided information. We display the available dates without describing the entire record as verified or real time.
A deliberately small directory
The directory contains selected trucking-company records across six states. It is a starting point, not a complete census, a ranking, or a list of companies available for a shipment. Selection emphasizes identifiable businesses with useful public record detail. No paid placements are included.
Registered location does not establish operating lanes. A cargo declaration such as refrigerated food does not confirm refrigeration equipment, current capacity, or appropriate cargo coverage.
Current authority and insurance
FMCSA moved registration activity to Motus in May 2026. Legacy Licensing & Insurance records are historical. For a current decision, consult FMCSA Motus and relevant current federal sources. Read our Motus and SAFER guide for the distinction.
Federal insurance filings do not establish all shipment-specific cargo coverage. Verify required limits, exclusions, dates and equipment with the appropriate insurer or authorized producer. Our insurance guide explains the gap.
When data is missing or unavailable
We distinguish a successful search with no matching records from a source that could not be reached. A selected directory profile can remain available as a dated snapshot. No missing value becomes a clean safety record or an assurance that a business is legitimate.
Editorial sourcing and corrections
Guides link to the primary sources supporting their subject, identify the publication date and explain material limitations. HaulFacts does not edit the underlying federal record. If that record is wrong, use the relevant FMCSA process; the DataQs system handles qualifying safety-data review requests, while registration details belong in the current registration system.
